Ground transport and accommodation specialist CMAC Group has continued its acquisition spree with the purchase of Netherlands-based Airline Services and Accommodation Partner (AS&AP).
AS&AP, which was founded in 2009, works with airlines across three Dutch airports, including key hub Amsterdam Schiphol, to book accommodation for passengers and crew affected by disruption to flights such as delays, diversions and cancellations. The company books more than 25,000 room nights annually.
The acquisition is UK-based CMAC’s fourth deal in the past 12 months – it also snapped up Spanish airport transfers specialist Suntransfers in September 2022 and took a 51 per cent stake in the UK’s Coach Hire Comparison platform last month. Financial terms of the latest transaction were not disclosed.
CMAC said in a statement that the addition of AS&AP would give its clients the “additional reassurance of on-the-ground presence for their passengers and crew across the Netherlands”.
AS&AP’s airline clients will also be able to book alternative transport and accommodation options across Europe.
Peter Slater, CEO of CMAC Group, added: “This strategic move aligns with our vision for growth and further strengthens our proposition for airline clients.”
Wim Kanon, founder and managing director of AS&AP, said the acquisition by CMAC would allow the company to “expand its reach and capabilities”.
“I look forward to working with CMAC’s team and believe that the combined strengths of our two companies will create a powerful force in the market,” said Kanon.
CMAC Group specialises in managing alternative transport and re-accommodation for airlines affected by disruption. It currently has an annual turnover of more than £150 million and transported 2.5 million people in 2022, with this figure set to rise to nearly three million travellers this year.
