Ground transport specialist CMAC Group has unveiled a new sustainability strategy for its UK operations.
The company said that the initiative represented a “bold commitment to environmental responsibility”. The strategy includes becoming carbon neutral on its directly generated (scope 1 and 2) emissions by the end of 2023.
CMAC said this was being achieved through a set of “rigorous targets” to ensure a reduction in these direct emissions including lower energy consumption.
Other pledges include reaching net zero by 2045 through encouraging the increased use of electric vehicles, as well as those powered by alternative fuels.
CMAC added it would “actively encourage” suppliers to transition to “green” vehicles and has also created a “proactive timeline” with specified initiatives, such as ensuring it offers the best available options for booking low emissions transport so that clients can reduce their scope 3 emissions from business travel.
Neil Micklethwaite, chief operating officer at CMAC Group, said: “The climate crisis is one of the most significant challenges of our lifetime, and we are making a clear commitment to continue the pathway of reducing emissions and protecting our environment for future generations.
“This strategy reflects our dedication to integrating sustainability into every aspect of our business. By setting ambitious targets, we aim to lead by example and contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future.”
CMAC said it was providing training and awareness programmes on sustainability for its staff, as well as setting up an internal “green team” led by the company’s head of sustainability.
