Italian TMC Gattinoni Business Travel has reported a positive half-year result, with a 16 per cent increase in revenues compared to the same period in 2023.
The wider Gattinoni Group, which includes leisure travel and events, reported positive results across all divisions with an overall increase in revenues of 15 per cent for the first half of 2024.
While details of half-year earnings have not been disclosed, the TMC said margins are “proceeding in line with projections” to achieve 12 per cent year-on-year growth by the end of 2024. In 2023, Gattinoni Business Travel recorded €254 million in annual turnover – and is ranked among the largest TMCs in the Italy in BTN Europe’s 2024 Leading TMCs 2024 report – while the wider group posted earnings of €686.9 million.
The positive growth trend follows the TMC’s 2023 acquisition of rival BTExpert and, as a result, its sharpened focus on the SME segment.
As well as expanding its team in Italy’s Triveneto region in 2023 and appointing a new CEO earlier this year, the TMC recently opened a new office in Milan “which has been operational for a few weeks”.
Gattinoni Group founder and president, Franco Gattinoni, said: “The acquisitions of recent years and the inclusion of high-profile managerial figures have allowed the group to obtain results above expectations.
“The choice to orient development in three macro areas – events, business travel and travel – has optimised processes, leading to above-budget growth already in the first half of the year".
The TMC also reported an increased focus on sustainability among its corporate clients, noting a 35 per cent uptick in requests for "sustainable trips" between 2023 and 2024.
Additionally, the company noted that 20 per cent of clients now prioritise carbon over cost and are willing to increase budgets to ensure travel is in line with corporate sustainability goals.
